The Ephraim Dains Project

Who was Ephraim Dains?

Ephraim Dains was a trooper in the Second Regiment Light Dragoons during the Revolutionary War.  The founder of this project stumbled upon his grave during a photography expedition at the old Redford Cemetery in Redford Township, Michigan. Fascinated by the discovery of a Revolutionary War soldier's grave, and disappointed by its condition, he was inspired to begin this project.

What is the Ephraim Dains Project?

The Ephraim Dains Project is an effort to preserve the condition and dignity of our departed veterans' graves  on an individual level.

Why does this project exist?

First and foremost, to honor the departed men and women of our armed forces, and show them the respect they deserve for their sacrifice.  Secondly, to remind all who encounter these graves that these were people with names, faces, families, jobs, hardships, hopes and dreams.  They were people who selflessly risked everything for our great nation, often against seemingly insurmountable odds.

Don't the Boy Scouts of America have this covered?

To a degree, yes.   And we are grateful for their efforts.  The Ephraim Dains Project has several advantages, however.  Since this project exists on an individual level, there are no high initial costs, no lengthy meetings or planning needed, and no bureaucracy or red tape to cut through.  Each participant maintains the chosen graves according to his/her own schedule and budget.
